Hello week 30, almost week 31! The second trimester or “honeymoon” of pregnancy as they say... was indeed just that up until the very end. I am so thankful to have experienced a much more enjoyable second trimester than the first. I can say though that I had a lot of anxiety between weeks 13-18 because honestly I didn’t feel pregnancy symptoms and I wasn’t feeling the baby move yet (anterior placenta, first pregnancy)... I would describe the first sensations of movement as if I had a goldfish flopping around inside of me. She most definitely is one active baby now though! Every morning and evening, I swear she trains for a marathon. In fact, during our 24 week appointment, the moment the midwife placed the doppler on her, she kicked it. She’s fiesty already! Around week 18 I did start to experience moderate tailbone/back discomfort that kept me from sleeping well. I suffered from trochanteric bursitis in my right hip pre-pregnancy and pregnancy definitely made the condition worse intermittently. There wasn’t much I could do except avoid the movements that flare it up, primarily squatting which I was doing a good bit of while working on projects. Difficulty sleeping would have been my #1 complaint. I’ve had pretty severe pregnancy sinus congestion from the get go and mix that with body pains, it’s been difficult to get comfortable at night. I’ve reached a point as well where my body/brain doesn’t allow me to take naps during the day, no matter how little sleep I got the night before. The struggle is real. Overall, my second trimester was pretty uneventful and for that I am so thankful. We did switch providers after week 20, which I’ll link that post here. It was a difficult time for me, but I know it was for the best. We opted to do a 3d ultrasound just before 28 weeks and it was so much fun! I have never seen my husband so excited. I knew doing the ultrasound would make this pregnancy more “real” for him since he doesn’t get to endure the lovely physical body changes... I also passed my one hour glucose test, which I’m so glad about! I might be a little biased, but she’s definitely the prettiest baby I’ve ever seen!

My sister is now in her third trimester and she wants to have a keepsake for her current pregnancy blog. She agrees with having difficulty sleeping during the last trimester because of body pains. Furthermore, it's ideal to ask professionals when in need of good quality 4d ultrasound images.
