If you follow me on instagram, you’ll know Christmas is in full swing here in the Smith household. This year I decided to get a head start on putting up decor because I anticipate it taking me a little longer to get jt all up (I might have went a little overboard with clearance decor last year). Check that post out here. When I opened my Christmas decor boxes this year, it felt like Christmas! As in I didn’t remember half of what I bought last year that was immediately put away for this year. This year I’m definitely leaning more towards a Scandinavian/modern farmhouse feel, meaning lots of greenery, lots of white, and fewer ornaments. Because I have two living spaces to decorate, I’m going with different themes in each room. My “formal” living room will be a very similar version of the tree I put together last year, just less. Blush and mercury glass are the two main staples to that room, but you’ll find a rose gold theme throughout my entire house. In my family room, I’m going for an even more simple look with navy and champagne/rose gold tones. I’m in the process of redoing my fireplace (structurally), so it will be interesting to see what direction that goes decor wise once I have a new mantle. Last year I bought new white faux fur stockings that I just adore and can’t wait to put up. I’m definitely enjoying the soft elements in these Inspirations. Give me all the faux fur, shag and chunky knits! A fun, new piece I’ve added this year is a rose gold tree I bought last year from Target. So far my plan is to use it in our dining room. It’s ironic we’re expecting a little girl because I will likely use it in her room once she makes her arrival next year! I hope you’ve been able to pull some inspiration from these gorgeous photos like I have! Who says Christmas has to be about reds and greens?!
