So today was my Friday! Extended weekends call for completing home projects! But first let's talk about how my pumpkin with cream iced coffee this morning tasted like I was drinking puréed tree bark. Am I the only one who's had this happen?

Hey guys! Since fall has officially begun, it's time for all things pumpkin! This past Saturday I was able to spend some much needed quality time with my long lost best friends (it's been a hot minute since we were all three together at the same time), so we went to a pumpkin farm! It felt more like a summer day, but the sky was just beautiful! We went to Ramseyer's Farm in Wooster, Oh, which is a fabulous place to take children. There are so many activities. My friends little boy was so upset about having to leave one of the activities he cried. It was precious! We followed up a perfect, pumpkin filled day with a Japanese steakhouse (thanks Matt!). Such a fun, blessed weekend! This week is going to be a weird one for me, I won't be working my usual Tu-Fr schedule, but a Mo-We one. I forgot how lousy the Sunday night blues were. I'm taking some much needed time off at the end of the week to hopefully tackle some projects and spend quality time with my significant other before he starts his new job next week!

Hey everyone! Today I want to share with you what my lovely spouse and I worked on after work today. A DIY pallet pumpkin, if you didn't get that from this blog title! I wish I could say this was my original idea, but I have Pinterest to thanks for it! I was dying last year to make this and just never found the time with us just buying our home a few months prior. So here it is! I've finally found time! I started with just any old pallet. Some pallets are pretty thick, which I think would be more difficult to work with. All the wood used came from the pallet.

What you'll need:

A pallet

Wood screws the appropriate length for ur pallet width

Drill and drill bits

Hammer

Jig saw

My "oh no..." armoire | 9.21.15

Here is the piece after a rainbow threw up on it

Okay! So for those who follow me on Instagram (link to follow me is above), you know I had a major color crisis the other day while painting an armoire that sits in our living room. I wanted a pop of color... and I ended up with just that. Too much color in fact. So I had a little regrouping moment with myself and faced the facts... bold and 'my house' do not go together. Thank goodness I stopped myself before I painted the entire piece.

I was using a mineral fusion paint and I will go ahead and review it, even though the color choice was a disaster.

Brand: Mineral Fusion

Color: Renfrew Blue

Purchased at: Local supplier

Coverage: I guess I was expecting better coverage than I got for one coat (I obviously didn't make it to two coats). It was very streaky.

Dry time: This product dried so quickly, as I expected it to since it's similar to chalk paint. Quick dry time is both a blessing and a curse. For recoating purposes, it's fabulous. For ability to work with, horrible. You really have to work in small areas and quickly.

Type of brush used: 1.5" angled synthetic brush

As you can tell by the before photos, I removed all the faux knobs on the two lower doors. The new knobs are from Home Depot. I was going to hold out and pick up a new color of mineral fusion paint, but I could not look at that unsightly, half painted teal armoire any longer. As usual, I used Behr paint. This color is called suede gray and is just a few shades darker than my wall color, cathedral gray. I used satin finish and only had to apply two coats. I used almost an entire quart on this piece.

Springfield Antique Show Extravaganza | 8.20.15

Hey guys! I just got back from the Springfield antique show extravaganza in Springfield, Ohio. This was my first time going to this event and it was a little overwhelming how much there was to look at. I was not exactly impressed, but there were a few cute items. You could easily spend four+ hours browsing the vendors, but I only stayed 1.5 hours. Here's a brief little video of the event.
