It's been some time since I've shared projects that I've completed, so I thought I'd share a little battle of the paints I did a handful of months back!
When it comes to chosing a project paint, three things stand out to me: Price, number of coats required for complete coverage, and final appearance. I tested out two paints that were new to me months ago and there was a clear winner in my opinion.
Rustoleum Chalked Paint vs General Finishes Milk Paint Price: Rustoleum Chalked Paint- $17 General Finishes Milk Paint- $33 Availability: Rustoleum Chalked Paint is available at most home improvement stores and some general stores. General Finishes Milk Paint is only available at select retailers nationwide. There are only one or two retailers in central Ohio. Coverage: Rustoleum Chalked Paint required three coats for full coverage. I would suggest priming your piece with a stain blocking primer if you suspect the piece will bleed or has lots of knots in the wood. General Finishes Milk Paint also required three coats for full coverage. Again, primer is needed if your piece potentially has staining. Finish once dry: Rustoleum Chalked Paint dries down to a completely matte finish and is very smooth and wipeable. The Linen White shade is a very true white that does not look dingy. General Finishes Milk Paint dries down also to a matte finish, but is not nearly as smooth as Rustoleum. The Snow White shade is also a very white white. Final verdict: For me the decision solely came down to price and convenience. These products were both very comparable, but at $17 you can't beat the Rustoleum. Not to mention if you run out mid project, you're sure to find a store nearby that carries it. Rustoleum Chalked Paint ProjectsGeneral Finishes Milk Paint Project

I am not the of person who does not care too much for the materials that were used to build my house. As long as I am impressed by the result, there is nothing I could ask for more! But if we are going to compare these two brands, I would also go for the cheaper one since reviews said that they have the same result. But based on your very delicate observation, General finishes milk paint produces better result and I am not surprised about it! Besides, its price is quite higher than the other one, so it must produce a better result, isn't it?
